What churches can participate?

Churches of any size or denomination are welcome to use our service for their business directory .

How much work will this be for our staff?

We will do everything - creating and printing publicity notices, posters, working with your publications, etc - that doesn't require physical presence at your location. You can even direct all questions from your congregation to us. All your staff will need to do is answer some initial questions to get us started, and then distribute printed directories when they're finished.

What does the printed directory look like?

The directory is printed on 8½ x 11 yellow paper, bound at the left edge.  Most directories are 10-15 pages, including title page and indexes; listings are indexed by business category, business name, and member name.  Here is a picture of the complete directory and a page from the directory.  Click on the images to see larger images (27KB and 48KB respectively). How much does a listing cost?

The base cost is $65 per year for each business, or $45 per year if the directory is online-only. Additional features a business chooses may add small additional charges. There is no listing charge for non-profit organizations and students. We can also set up customized arrangements for your particular church.

If your church would like to use the directory as a fundraising source, we can also add an additional donation amount to each listing, which will be passed on directly to your church.

How many printed directories do we get?

If you elect to do a printed version of the directory, you will receive a number equal to 25% of the size of your mailing list. This is usually more than sufficient, but if you run out we will provide you with the same number of additional directories at no additional charge.

Who gets to put listings in our directory?

This is completely up to you. The most common policy is that anyone who is a regular attender of the church may place a listing. If you would like to restrict availability to only members of the church, or if you would like to review listings before final acceptance, we can set up your directory to accommodate this.

Is our directory completely private?

Your directory will not be publicized outside of your church. In addition, Internet "search engines" will not be able to read the contents of your directory with their automatic indexing programs, so no one will find the directory "by accident" through a search engine.  However, your directory will be accessible by anyone who knows your directory's individual web address, and through the link from your church's website if you set one up.  If you would like to further restrict access, so that no one outside your church will be able to read your directory, we can set up password access.  Most churches avoid such measures because of the logistical issues of distributing the password to their membership.

How long does all this take?

After you contact us to sign up, we can have your directory ready to accept listings within a week. Then you will decide on your deadline for accepting listings, although we have found that about one month is usually sufficient.

How can we customize our online directory's appearance?

Generally we would try to tie the look of the directory in with your church's website, if you have one. If you would like, you can design a custom title page for your directory. You may also choose a palette of colors to be used in various elements such as page headers, listing headers and backgrounds, and category headers. In addition, you may design a custom page header and footer, or a side "navigation bar" if you prefer.

How will people in our congregation find out about the directory?

When you decide to start a directory, we will publicize it by providing a flyer (including a listing signup form) for you to mail out or distribute to everyone in your church, and posters for you to put up around your church. We will also work with your publications to include announcements of the directory and make any other efforts we can for your directory to be a success.
